We often find ourselves looking at a complex object and asking: "How was this made?" In the world of mechanics and industrial design, the answer is almost always thermoforming.

At ET srl, we work with this technology every day, yet we’ve noticed that many are still unaware of its incredible potential. Here are 5 facts you probably didn't know:

1. The "Queen" of Space (and Flight)

Think of the interior panels of an airplane or the linings of space modules. They must be ultra-lightweight yet extremely durable. Thermoforming allows for minimal thickness combined with high structural rigidity—ideal for industries where every gram counts.

2. Your Fridge Speaks "Thermoformed"

Take a look inside your refrigerator: that large, smooth, seamless white inner liner is a masterpiece of thermoforming. It is the only way to create such a large, hygienic, and thermal-shock-resistant component in a single step.

3. Unbeatable Speed: From Design to Finished Part

Unlike injection molding, which requires expensive steel molds and months of lead time, thermoforming is "agile." The molds (often made of aluminum produced in-house at ET srl) are ready in a fraction of the time. It is the perfect choice for those who need to get to market quickly.

4. XXL Dimensions

There are virtually no limits. With thermoforming, we can create housings for agricultural machinery, tubs, or industrial casings several meters long. Trying to achieve this with other techniques would result in prohibitive costs.

5. A Green Soul

The plastics used in thermoforming (such as ABS, PET, or Polystyrene) are often 100% recyclable. Furthermore, production scraps are reground and reused immediately, reducing material waste almost to zero.

Do you want to find out if thermoforming is the right solution for your next project?

At ET srl, we don’t just manufacture: we partner with you to design the most efficient technical solution for your needs.
